If you have ever wondered when you call around for price on a complete paint job why the costs is so much? Well we have to take off the doors so we can paint the jambs (door jams) the doors and the body of the vehicle. Door handles, moldings, emblems, anything that is on the paint has to come off. Body shop term R & I (remove and install). Sometimes these items have to be replaced (R & R remove and replace). Doors, hood, trunk lid and fuel door all have to come off so we can paint the underside first then mount them back on the vehicle before we paint them complete. Everything back on the vehicle we sand it down, mask it off and get ready to paint. Painting the car takes less time then everything else. Once painted the paint cures and everything has to go back on! That is for a color change. Now if you are just wanting to revamp your vehicles color then still all the R&I of the moldings door handles, and emblems but all the panels stay on. So here are some photos for a better understanding.
99 Dodge Ram- took off the chrome kit, door moldings, door handles & the old style trailer mirrors. We had to weld the holes from the old mirrors so we could add the new mirrors. Doors came off and painted first.
Masked up to paint the jambs.
Truck box offset to paint behind the cab. For the color Rich chose Mipa Gemini with the Black base coat. The Ram head is Mipa Gemini with a red base coat.Looks sharp in the sun. After it was painted must buff the whole vehicle, and put all the stuff back on.
All done and out in the sun! Every angle new color.
71 Chevelle - Transformation to Gun metal grey, hood switch, and some stripes. To save some money you can always to the tear down and put together yourself such as what the owner of this car chose to do.
When you have a 99 A4 and all your interior is tricked out it's time to play with the outside! The boys went around the car fixed all dings then went to work on moulding some wheel flares.
When there are sign ordnances you can always paint your car! First we gave it a BBQ smokey look.
Mapped out some flames and added some charcoal.
